FILLED : Support Engineer with Cisco Networking expertise for Consulting Services company in Minnesota

We have an immediate opening for a Cisco Systems Engineer for our client in Minneapolis, MN with a strong technical background and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the field consulting, designing and implementing Cisco networking.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE TO THIS POSITION:
The successful candidate will need an understanding of Cisco networking from both a design and engineering perspective. The candidate will be able to demonstrate strong technical and communications skills to effectively fill this role along with an interest in further developing technical expertise in this and other areas.
The core responsibilities of this position encompass:
  • Working with our customers to design, configure, deploy, maintain and document Cisco Networks and solutions.
  • Evaluate existing customer network systems in order to support the business case for upgrading to Cisco platforms.
  • Perform technology assessments of customer network environments.
  • Participate in pre-sales engagements as required.
  • Identify and recommend infrastructure upgrades and improvements based upon industry best practices and the Cisco Lifecycle Services Approach.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • 4+ years experience designing/configuring/troubleshooting Cisco routing, switching and security products
  • CCNA or CCDA
  • Related Technical Degree (Networking, Computer Science)
  • Strong technical aptitude and proven ability to learn new skills quickly
  • Customer facing troubleshooting or consulting experience
PREFERRED: 
  • CCNA + Security, CCDP, CCNP Certifications
  • Experience with non-Cisco telephony vendor products (Avaya, Nortel, Microsoft Lync, OCS)
  • VMware virtualization experience especially on Cisco UCS servers
Ideal candidates will have excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills and have the ability to write technically for pre-sales work and project documentation.
